Amazed at sightless whirring of their wheels察 Confounded with the
recklessness and strife察Distract with fears of what may next ensue察Some
break rude exit from the house of life察And plunge into a silence out of
view Whence not a cry察 no wafture once reveals What door they have
broke open with the knife。

Help me察my Father察in whatever dismay察Whatever terror in whatever
shape察To hold the faster by thy garment's hem察When my heart sinks察oh察
lift it up察I pray察Thy child should never fear though hell should gape察Not

Too eager I must not be to understand。 How should the work the
master goes about Fit the vague sketch my compasses have planned拭I am

At any time what he is doing with me察'Tis that he makes the house for me
too grand。
16。
The house is not for meit is for him。 His royal thoughts require many
a stair察Many a tower察many an outlook fair察Of which I have no thought察
and need no care。 Where I am most perplexed察it may be there Thou mak'st
a secret chamber察 holy´dim察 Where thou wilt come to help my deepest

How do I live when thou art far away拭When I am sunk察and lost察

Thou farthat word the holy truth doth blur。 Doth the great ocean
from the small fish run When it sleeps fast in its low weedy bower拭Is the
sun far from any smallest flower察 That lives by his dear presence every

;Dear presence every hour;what of the night察 When crumpled
daisies shut gold sadness in察And some do hang the head for lack of light察
Sick almost unto death with absence´blight拭Thy memory then察 warm´

Sometimes察perhaps察the spiritual blood runs slow察And soft along the
veins of will doth flow察 Seeking God's arteries from which it came。 Or
does the etherial察creative flame Turn back upon itself察and latent grow拭
It matters not what figure or what name察If thou art in me察and I am not to

In such God´silence察the soul's nest察so long As all is still察no flutter

My soul this sermon hence for itself prepares此 Then is there nothing
vile thou mayst not do察Buffeted in a tumult of low cares察And treacheries

Lord察let my soul o'erburdened then feel thee Thrilling through all its

The love of thee will set all notions right。 Right save by love no

Questions keep camp along love's shining coast Challenge my love and

rush to thee察and cling察and cryThou know'st。 28。
Oh察let me live in thy realities察Nor substitute my notions for thy facts察
Notion with notion making leagues and pacts察 They are to truth but as
